Setting up MailChimp to work with Scarcity Samurai (New Interface)

**On the 17th June 2013, MailChimp introduced a new interface. This article will show you how to setup MailChimp to work with Scarcity Samurai using the new interface. If you have already setup a campaign using the old interface you can safely ignore this article as your existing campaigns will continue to work.

In order to create a multi-page campaign in Scarcity Samurai using MailChimp, you'll need to have a list with a custom token field, and an opt-in form.

This article will explain how to create a custom token field in MailChimp. You'll need to be logged into your MailChimp account, and you'll need to select the email list you'd like to use in your evergreen campaign. If you haven't created a list yet, click here for the steps to create one.

1. Open your 'Lists', select the list you want to use Scarcity Samurai with, hover over 'Settings', then click on 'List Fields and '|MERGE|' tags'.

2. Click 'Add a Field'

 3. Select 'Text'. A new field will be added to the list. Change the field label to be 'token', and the tag to be 'TOKEN'. Finally, click 'Save'

**Custom tokens record a user information in our database, to prevent users from seeing your Scarcity offer more than once.

 4. The next step is to create the opt in form. Click on the 'Signup forms' tab, then click on 'Embed a form'.

 6. Click on the 'add a field', and add the token field - make sure the Field Settings match those on the picture to the right (Field label must be token, and Field Tag must be TOKEN). Once you've made any necessary changes, click 'Save Field'.

 7. Click on 'share it', then click the 'Want to embed a form on a web page' link.

 8. Select 'Naked' and then copy the form HTML code to your clipboard (Control+C on a Windows computer, and Command+C on a MAC)

9. Open up the edit screen of your opt in page (or create a new one), paste in the form html code, and click Update (or Publish).

 10. Now you'll need to setup what happens once the user has signed up. In most cases you will want to redirect the user back to a page in your Scarcity Samurai campaign. To do this click on the 'Lists' menu, then click on the settings (gear icon) for the list you've been working with, then click 'Forms'.

You should now have an opt in form that you will be able to use in a Scarcity Samurai Multi Page Campaign.
